Here are the answers to some FAQs asked by those interested.
- How much time will I need to invest? Well how long is a piece of string? Seriously though, expect to put in about 40 hours of work in per assignment per module. Then add travel time to and from Grahamstown 5 times in the first year. The modules are over weekends thought so you’ll only need the Friday’s off plus your travel time.
- How much will it cost? That’s a question for the university as fees change annually. However, you can calculate the real cost by adding your travel expenses, accommodation, car rental and foods while there (5 times in the first year). If you make friends with people in your vicinity, you can travel together, share the car rental and accommodation for example. But in rands and cents, I think you can comfortably set aside about R5k per trip.
- Has anyone I know done it? Currently enrolled people you may know are: Yestin Johnson, Grant Ongers, Japie Vermeulen, Bruce Shackleton and Mark Fürst . Previous years’ graduate is Istvan Berko, Dominic White and Haroon Meer.
The bottom line: It’s do-able. It’s not easy, but it’s definitely possible. Applications close 21 November 2016.. Here’s the link to the original post by Barry Irwin
